When the wind calls,
That somewhere in the mountains,
It has found the answers that you were looking for.
The pull of the horizon overcomes the inertia of reason…
And you just have to go – Vikram Oberoi
Some pics from treks in the Swiss Alps around Emosson and la Grande-Dixence dams, humble 1,900 and 2,300 meters altitude, at the frontier between autumn and winter.
Both dams were closed to visit, due to security restrictions during the winter season, but we weren’t discouraged! It was still a good opportunity to conquer the mountains a little bit or at least to have a nice walk. Imagine: a cold day of November, a silent mountain, an impressive nature declined in various shades of sienna and white:
La Grande-Dixence itself, impressive kind of a lady: the tallest gravity dam in the world, made of 6,000,000 m3 of concrete, holding 400,000,000 m3 of water…
Where automn encounters winter,
There is a raw poetry
of snow and of needles
There is a harsh symetry
of force and of beauty
There is a wild mystery
of eternal and ever changing nature
